MANIFEST OF ACTIOGRAPHIA Introduction for XXI Century Theatre

1. Actio + Graphia: description of, represented by lines drawn; putting in motion, performing.

2. State of Art: unfinished, uncertain, spontaneous, illusive, multiple, casual, undetermined, a constant Work in Progress.

3. Design induces or modifies behaviors in a certain space. The behavior design is made of three factors: action, behavior and architectonic space.

How to translate words into actions, actions into spaces?

What lines can materialize actual spatial intentions and define the Actiographia for XXI Century Theatre?

Action: A play isn´t a finished art work anymore, it’s a state of suspension, an happening.

Behavior: People are astonishing and unpredictable. They define the life of each space. People occupy the space in an unexpected and intuitive way. Choosing the seating place could be an improvisation left to each person that participates in the performance, allowing alternative functions to architectonic elements.

Architectonic Space: The building is a social space, physically and psychologically; a landscape of sound and gesture’s scenarios, allowing the creation of new relationships between the performance and its protagonists. The building understanding results from an exhausting experience of the 4th dimension of architecture: the movement.
